Dear Church,
This is always such a full-on and exciting time of the church year.
As schools get ready to return, we are thrilled to be involved in several initiatives to support our local educators and students. As a church family you have once again demonstrated incredible generosity and compassion. You make me so proud to be your Pastor!
This Sunday afternoon, we will again welcome teachers from across the county for our annual Free Teachers Supply Fair. I really can’t thank you all enough for your abundant donations of school supplies. Your contributions will make a tangible difference in the lives of local teachers and, ultimately, the children they serve. At Memorial, we understand the crucial role educators play in shaping young minds, and we are honored to support them in any way we can.
And the School Supply Fair is not the only way we serve and support local educators at this time of year. Already this week we have been serving our friends at Yulee Primary School by helping with campus clean-up efforts and by providing breakfast for teachers as they return from summer break. What a great way to show our love and support. Simple acts of service like these are so important as we seek to build strong relationships with our community and support those who educate our children.
Speaking of our commitment to children, I am excited to remind you that this Sunday morning marks the return of Family First Sundays. Going forward, on every first Sunday of the month, we now invite children to remain in worship with their families and to participate fully in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Worshiping together is a wonderful way for families deepen their faith journey. And for parents with very young children, don’t worry - our nursery will remain open for our youngest church family members.
Friends, work with children, both within the church and beyond it, is a vital part of our mission. It is through nurturing the youngest members of our church and community in all the ways we can that we lay the foundation for a brighter future.
I’ll see you on Sunday!
Pastor Charlie
