I don’t know about you, but I’ve always looked forward to the start of the school year. Yes, I happened to love school, but I also loved what came with the start of the school year- new school supplies and clothes, extracurricular activities, football, fall, and eventually the holidays.
And though I’m no longer in school and Austin isn’t quite at the “back to school” phase of his education, I still look forward to the start of the school year because it generally signals the restarting of our own personal and church routines. You might be feeling, as many of us have, the desire to get back into a “normal” rhythm, especially after my transition here to Memorial and Charlie’s travels. Believe me when I say we are all eager to get back into the normal routines of worship this fall.
We’ve got new classes starting soon, a new book launching at our Lunch & Learn this week, and calendar that’s starting to fill up with exciting opportunities for mission, prayer and discipleship.
I wonder if there is something you’ve been missing from your own church or personal routine that you’d like to re-start?
I’ve heard from a few folks that they are looking to dive deeper into their spiritual gifts, and a great place to start is by practicing a spiritual discipline or two that allows you to think about how you can best serve God and others. For me, I have found that I miss my daily scripture time, and I’m eager to spend just a few more minutes diving into the Word each morning.
Will you join me in adding something back into your routine? Let me know how I can support you in your journey. I look forward to seeing you all “back to school” this fall!
With Grace and Peace,
Pastor Rachel
