September 29th, 2023 | Rev. Rachel Williams

I can hardly believe that we are about to enter October! What comes to mind for you? Perhaps it’s the first feelings of cooler mornings, sitting with coffee on the porch. Maybe it’s fall festivals, football, pumpkin patches, and Halloween. With Austin’s birthday being on Halloween, I know that October is one of the busiest times of year for us, and it seems to stay that way until the end of the holiday season. It also seems to be the case in the church as we build momentum toward Advent and Christmas. Things get busy!

Something that may not immediately come to mind but is deeply important in the lifecycle of the church is our annual stewardship season which kicks off this Sunday, October 1st. Throughout his letters, Paul describes servants of Christ as “stewards of the mysteries of God” (you can find this in 1 Corinthians 4). Consider the steward as a manager, trustee, administrator; As someone in service to the commission that has been placed on each of us as disciples of Christ. We must not only be mindful of how we serve and leave others but about how we manage the resources that allow us to do the work God has called each of us to do.

This year we’ll spend four weeks on stewardship considering what it means to be “Together on Mission” and how our gifts, time, talents and money can contribute to the current and future endeavors of Memorial. What is it that you hope to see happen in 2024? In what ways is God working through our church to serve Fernandina Beach, Yulee, and beyond and how can those endeavors be further supported? I hope you’ll join us each week this month as we journey through this vital series.

I look forward to seeing you this week in service, and don’t forget to bring your pet to get blessed at St. Peter’s at 2:00PM!

With Grace and Peace,

Pastor Rachel
