Bob Powell Mini Food Pantry:

The Bob Powell Mini Food Pantry was originally a ministry of the Wilma Bunch Women's Circle. It was created in response to a noticeable need in our community to easily accessible, quick-serve foods. The pantry was built by the circle and placed behind the Partin Center so it was in a more discrete location (hoping this would encourage more people to use it.)

The pantry was named for the late Bob Powell in honor of his many years dedicated to collecting food for the Barnabas Center.
In 2024, the pantry was in need of repair after suffering damage during a busy hurricane season. Church member Nathan Cole chose to rebuild the pantry for his Eagle Scout project. The new pantry stands taller and should be able to withstand future hurricanes. Cole even included an area for a cooler and a small book pantry for kids. (the Dr. Kay Johnson Library.)

The Wilma Bunch Circle, along with the children of Memorial, work to keep the pantry stocked with food. You can add any of the items listed above to the food pantry as well! Please remember that the most accessible items will be grab and cans with pop tops are preferred (since many won't have a can opener to access them.)
The is also a place in the pantry for wrapped individual forks and spoons that you may get with takeaway meals. If you are not using them, save them and donate them to the food pantry.

If you have questions about the food pantry, please contact Carrie McCannell-Scruggs.
