Pastor Brett Opalinski grew up in Lakeland, Florida and has been a lifelong Methodist. He went to seminary at Candler School of Theology, at Emory University in Atlanta, and has a Ph.D. in New Testament and Early Christianity from Iliff School of Theology/University of Denver. When he's not working he enjoys running, fishing, playing guitar, growing vegetables, and swinging the kids on the rope swing in his back yard! His favorite scripture passage is: 1 John 4:16-21.

| Joan Averett (Director of Music Ministries - Organist) grew up in Lakeland, Georgia. She graduated from Valdosta State with a B. Mus in Organ Performance and a M. Mus in Organ Performance & Church Music from Florida State. In her spare time she enjoys her pugs and spending time with her family. One of Joan's life-changing experiences was going to China with her husband in 1999 and adopting their daughter MaeLee. Her favorite scripture is Isaiah 40:31.

Asociate Pastor Hollie Tapley grew up in Sylacauga, Alabama. She is a graduate of Auburn University, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with post graduate, certification and foundation studies from Candler School of Theology. Hollie’s passions for ministry include Christian Education, Discipleship, Spiritual Formation, Missions and Worship. Matthew 9:35 – 38 is the basis for her ministry: “Jesus went about . . .saw . . He had compassion.” In her free time Hollie enjoys time with her two beagles ( Schooner & Kylie) and being at the beach.

Mary Ramirez is from Washington State and moved to Fernandina four years ago with her daughters, Rio (17) and Sarah (10). | Carol Olson was born in Pawnee, Nebraska and graduated from the Agape School of World Evangelism in Little Rock, Arkansas and North Arkansas College. She was also an instructor at North Arkansas College and served on a church staff for four years. Carol has served MUMC since 2005. Carol has 2 daughters and two sons-in law, Michelle & Scott Hodges and Lindsey and Gary Kangas and four grandchildren; Sheridan, Zayne, Bryson and Bailey. Carol's favorite scripture is John 3:16.
