Monthly Mission Emphasis Giving
Each month at Memorial UMC we are invited to give to special mission projects and concerns. The ministry will change each month. This is over and above giving (beyond our pledge or tithe) designated specifically for outreach ministries. If you would like to give, simply write "mission emphasis" on your envelope or check.
In addition, we support Special Sundays in the United Methodist Church including: Peace with Justice Sunday, World Communion Sunday, and others.

Interfaith Dinner Network We are proud to partner with other congregations and the Nassau County Homeless Coalition to provide a warm meal to anyone in the community who needs one. Memorial UMC serves twice a month at the Hope House. Please contact the church office (261-4362) if you would like to be a part of this ministry.

The Mexico Mission Project
For the last 4 years we have sent many folks from our congregation over to Juarez, Mexico to serve the folks in a community development called Tierra Nueva. We have built homes, created a computer lab, run Vacation Bible Schools, offered free medical service and even started a scholarship fund for local students. But most importantly, we have built lasting relationships with our brothers and sisters in Mexico that have changed our lives and deepened our faith. We normally go during Spring Break. If you'd like some more information about this opportunity please e-mail Andy Foote at amfooteiii@yahoo.com

Builders Care Regardless of skill level, any volunteer can join this team to build wheelchair ramps, paint houses, do light landscaping/yardwork, or other minor home repairs for those in need here in this community. We serve on the 4th Saturdays of each month. For more information, please contact the Church Office at 904-261-4362.

THE RED BIRD MISSION
The Red Bird Mission has served the underemployed and frequently poverty stricken people of Appalachia since 1921. Over the years Memorial UMC has supported various branches of the Red Bird Missionary Conference through monetary donations, Volunteers in Mission, Work Camp teams, and a long-term participation in the soup label and box top ministries. 2008 (September) will be the fourth year in a row that we have sent a Work Camp team to Red Bird Mission. This team of 18 members will again participate in repairs in the community working on the roof, replacing floors, and possibly doing some interior painting. The team is also delivering a sizable monetary donation from our church to the Red Bird Mission School as well as some items for the Christmas Room and Community store. The team looks forward to sharing the memorable experiences that are so characteristic of this mission site.
For general information about Red Bird Mission e-mail Gracie at maurline@msn.com. For information about the soup label/box top ministries, contact Georgia Wert (904-321-1323) or Bonnie Schlossberg (904 491-8002).

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ As you will see - missions is a vital part of the life of Memorial United Methodist Church. This page does not even begin to cover all of the mission opportunities that we are involved in.
